Class of 2028 Audition
The following will take place with guidance on the day of audition:
- Applicants will perform one musical selection – Sacred/Gospel, Classical, or Musical Theater.
- A Bluetooth speaker will be provided for any accompaniment. If you choose to bring an accompanist, a piano will be provided. We do not provide an accompanist.
- A series of unrehearsed vocalizes, ear training and sight-reading provided in person.

Sarah Hamman, a native of Connellsville, PA, is the Director of Vocal Music. Hamman‘s academic career includes a B.M.E. in Vocal/Instrumental Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Arts from Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia, as well as a M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Southern Mississippi. Hamman has been fortunate to perform and lead in multiple theater productions and other musical performances along the east coast and across Europe. Since moving to Mississippi in 2019, Hamman has had the opportunity to work with FestivalSouth, Hub City Players, Southern Opera & Musical Theater Company and Hattiesburg Community Theater. Hamman spent the summer of 2022 in Germany where she studied and auditioned throughout Bavaria with the International Performing Arts Institute and plans to continue working with them each summer. Most recently, Hamman opened her own private vocal studio where she specializes in both classical and belt techniques. Hamman‘s musical versatility has led her to be able to cater to a wide variety of musical styles, and to work alongside some of the best in the industry.
Cindy Hunter received an associate of arts with an emphasis in organ and minors in voice and piano from Clarke College. She continued her studies at The University of Southern Mississippi, obtaining a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in organ and voice. Her graduate work was in speech pathology. Cindy is a retired educator of 30 years in Mississippi, with the first 5 years as a speech pathologist and the remainder as a music educator, having directed concert choirs, show choirs, musicals, and organist at various churches. Cindy has been a voice coach and accompanist at MSA for over 10 years.
