Ms. Tobie Lambert, the English III, AP Literature and Composition, Dual English Composition I and II instructor at Mississippi School of the Arts (MSA), was recognized by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) as the Congressional District 3 Teacher of the Year and a finalist for overall 2025 Mississippi Teacher of the Year. The celebration program was held at the Jackson Convention Center on Thursday, April 25th.

Ms. Lambert believes, “Education is not always about achievement or scores, but it is eternally about growth. How that looks is different for each student. My priorities are to provide a differentiated, flexible approach; exemplify and instill compassion, leadership, and community service; and establish a student-centered, approachable presence that encourages the confidence to question and explore.”

Tobie Lambert, an award-winning, National Board Certified Teacher, has been instructing students at the state’s public residential arts high school for the past 8 years. She has been selected as STAR teacher multiple times by graduating seniors at MSA.

As part of the celebration, Blue Bell Creameries donated ice cream to the school.

The Mississippi Teacher of the Year program recognizes exemplary teachers in the state. The state award recipient will be asked to share expertise through various presentations, professional development, and activities for the improvement of education. The 2025 Mississippi Teacher of the Year is Ms. Ashley Barefoot of Lamar County School District. According to MDE, ‘Should the 2025 Mississippi Teacher of the Year be unable to fulfill their duties, an alternate candidate has been selected. The alternate 2025 Mississippi Teacher of the Year is Tobie Lambert, teacher at Mississippi School of the Arts.”
