Mississippi School of the Arts congratulates literary seniors who recently swept all three of the winning spots in the WIlliam Faulkner Literary Competition. This marks the first time in the competition’s history that MSA has taken 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Tiara Jones, whose short story “I Don’t Always Sing Gospel on Sundays” won 1st Place.
Cooper Brumfield, whose short story “In Between the Cracks” won 2nd Place.
Chanel Hand, whose short story “You’re Just a Kid” won 3rd Place.
“We are grateful to have our work considered and honored. And, in honor of this moment, the literary department attended the William Faulkner Literary Competition Awards Luncheon at the First Methodist Church in New Albany, MS, to celebrate the winners. We are also grateful to the New Albany Main Street Association for gifting our department Main Street Money to use downtown. We used it to enjoy some delicious treats at Brain Freeze Yogurt Bar before heading back down to MSA,” said Dr. Nadia Alexis (MSA Literary Instructor).
