Mississippi School of the Arts celebrates the student award recipients of the Scholastic Writing Regional Competition–Mississippi, for 2024. The department received ninety-nine awards in this year’s competition. MSA’s Literary program instructor is Dr. Nadia Alexis. Critical Essays were submitted by English/Literature students, taught by Tobie Lambert. Literary Arts Gold Key and Silver Key works will be juried at the national level. The Regional Awards Ceremony will be held April 14th at the Eudora Welty House & Garden. Author Margaret McMullan will be the keynote speaker. Beginning at 1:00pm, tours of the Eudora Welty House will be provided.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. In 2023, students across the United States and Canada entered more than 300,000 original works in 28 different categories of art and writing.
