Mississippi School of the Arts celebrated 20 years of operation with a special recognition and performance on May 5th in Lampton Auditorium. Key partners of the school were recognized, including donors. The juniors and seniors of the MSA Chorale were joined by previous vocal alums of Mr. Patton Rice’s vocal music department, for the 2023 Spring Concert, in honor of Mr. Rice. Patton will retire from Mississippi School of the Arts in May with 18 years of service. Ezekiel McCall was the emcee and a performer for the event, currently performing on Broadway in Disney’s The Lion King. Additional solo performers for the evening included Kayla Braswell, Briar Blakley, Blake Shankle, and Ryan Rushing. The evening brought back over 60 vocal alumni, at least one representing each year taught by Mr. Rice throughout his 18-year tenure at MSA.
