The Mississippi School of the Arts’ Visual Arts Department has racked up awards for the 2022 Mississippi Regional Scholastic Art Competition. In an email sent to MSA faculty by Maurice Calvert, one of the department’s visual instructors, he wrote “Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition this year! As some of you are already aware, we have received an email containing the awards winners for 2022 and I wanted to share the list with you all. Gold, and Silver Key works will be on view at the Mississippi Museum of Art from February 10 -March 20.”
35 Gold Keys, 32 Silver Keys, and 30 Honorable Mentions are the official totals. “We will hear soon about works that will go on to our National Competition. We are very, very proud of you all!,” said Calvert. Maurice Calvert and Brittany Horne are the instructors for the Visual Arts program at MSA.
