angela-thomas-illinois-univerisity-dance-contestAngela Thomas, a senior dance student at Mississippi School of the Arts (MSA), recently received honorable mention for a submission to the Discover FAA (Fine+Applied Arts) Talent Scholarship Competition through the University of Illinois. The dance piece submitted and scored was entitled “Valencies“, from the Junior Informal 2015 Concert and was selected to be performed during the Fall Repertory Concert at Mississippi School of the Arts.

According to the University of Illinois, “The contest attracted registrations from 25 states and 4 countries. As an award recipient, you should be commended, as the talent exhibited was extraordinary.  FAA faculty judges were impressed by the wide variety of entries and the amount of time each student clearly took to prepare their submission.”

First place in the competition went to Hannah N. from Louisville, Kentucky while second place went to Kaitlin S. from Bannockburn, Illinois.

Competitive categories included Architecture, Art and Design, Dance, Landscape Architecture, Music, Theatre, and Urban Planning.
