Vocal Music Broadway Cabaret – The Other Side of the Story

The Mississippi School of the Arts Vocal Music Department invites audiences to look beyond the familiar heroes and villains of Broadway in its upcoming fall cabaret, The Other Side of the Story.

Built around the idea that every story changes depending on who gets to tell it, the cabaret explores some of musical theatre’s most recognizable heroes, villains, dreamers and misunderstood characters. Rather than presenting a traditional collection of Broadway favorites, the production is structured like a storybook, with each “chapter” taking the audience deeper into the complicated line between good and evil.

The program features music from a wide range of Broadway favorites, including Wicked, Into the Woods, Chicago, Les Misérables, Mean Girls, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Bonnie & Clyde, Heathers, Sweeney Todd, Aida, Anastasia, Frozen, Sister Act, Urinetown, Carrie and more.

The Other Side of the Story continues the Vocal Music Department’s tradition of using its fall cabaret to showcase students individually while bringing them together for a fully staged musical theatre performances throughout the year.
