The Mississippi School of the Arts’ Senior Class of 2024 will participate in commencement exercises on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 2:00pm. Limited general admission tickets to the event, in Mary J. Lampton Auditorium, will be distributed by seniors. Please contact a senior to secure your ticket.

This event will simulcast (livestream) on our Facebook and YouTube social media channels. Choose either platform to watch the ceremony. We’ll begin the stream approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of ceremony.

Commencement Program

  • Processional – Cindy Hunter (Pianist)
  • Pledge of Allegiance – Shakeera Brent (SGA President)
  • Greetings – Dr. Suzanne Hirsch (MSA Executive Director)
  • Salutatorian’s Address – Isana Chapman
  • Valedictorian’s Address – Aarah Mayor
  • Commencement Speaker – Dr. Nickie Floyd
  • Presentation of Diplomas – Dr. Suzanne Hirsch and Dr. Avery Peager (Principal)
  • Special Music – “May Our Paths Meet Again” by S. Albrecht J. Althouse, followed by the MSA Alma Mater by Dr. Jeanne Lebow and Patton Rice.
  • Recessional – “Trumpet Tune” by Henry Purcell

Commencement Speaker

Dr. Nickie Floyd is a 2010 vocal alumni from the Mississippi School of the Arts. Since graduating, Nickie has obtained various degrees in education from Mississippi State University, Howard University, and the University of Southern Mississippi. Nickie’s academic professions include teaching Elementary and Middle School, being an adjunct professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, being Director of a Teaching Residency, and as a Director of Teaching and Learning at National University. Nevertheless, Nickie’s first love and main driving force has always been and will always be the arts. Read full bio.
